Dear Friend

I have recently embraced making fresh bread. And when I say recently, I mean two weeks ago. And when I say embraced, I mean two loaves. Tomorrow, I am going to launch an attempt of bread bowls, so we shall see. But it has got me to thinking.

So often, I have prayed the prayer, "give us this day, our daily bread" What exactly do I need for mine.

When my children were growing up, I often played "worst case scenario" with them. "What" I would ask them, "is the absolute worst thing that could happen?" We usually ended up on a herd of rhinocerii rollerskating through our living room, and focus was temporarily re-directed from the paralysis of the problem at hand. I do not play that much, any more, as The Captain tells me his therapist has pointed out that "catastrophizing" is an incredibly;y unhealthy way of dealing with problems, and even if I did not mean to, that is the value I instilled in him.

However, when it comes to survival, the rule of 3 says:

  • 3 minutes without air

  • 3 hours without shelter

  • 3 days without water

  • 3 weeks without food

Look at that last one. Truly, carbs are not my most immediate need. What is? Friend, I do know. And this I pray for. And this I find God gives. Just enough. Just enough peace. Just enough strength. Just enough joy. Just enough life. Just enough love. Just enough grace. Just enough mercy. Just enough faith. Just enough for me to worship him Just enough to love and serve others. Just enough for get through today.

So thanks, friend. Because you are a part of God's door dash. Every time you show He provides. And you deliver.

thus spake,

me.
