There are warning signs ahead. But you're correct. The invisible asterisk does imply that they are for everyone else but you.

I know.  It won't happen to you.  You're not worried.  You'll see the signs long before it does.  There is no need for a fence, of course. You're way too smart for that. You're not in danger of THAT.  Fair enough.  Just thought I'd share my concern.  OK.  I didn't share what I shared to poke at you.  Or to judge you.  Or to shame you.  It's because it takes one to know one.   And I spotted you from across the hall.  Because you look just like I did..  Exhausted. Empty.  Worn out.  Worn down. OK.

I forget. I can tell the same story to three different men. One is going to be hit by humility and authenticity, and he's going to have a serious conversation with he's beloved. Another is finally about to admit he's been spiraling for a long time now. And then there's you. Nope. Not my problem. No worries. Nothing to see here.

Look. I've got no problem if between the two of us you're the smartest one in the room. I'm certainly going to pray that you're right, my friend. And if you're not. Or even when you're not, know that my climbing harness is in the trunk. And I'm not an "I told you so." guy. Unless, of course, you like your new home at the bottom of the rock slide, because it's the very best place to live and soon everyone with any kind of sense will be living there.
